Student Composer in Residence 2019 - Kate Tempany
Kate Tempany is a composer, tabla player and community artist, and studied composition as a post-graduate student in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music. Kate was the 2019 Grainger Museum Composer-in-Residence. Her composition, a deep blue shimmering haze, was created as an interactive soundscape for the exhibition How it Plays: Innovations in Percussion.

Biography:
Kate Tempany is a composer, tabla player and workshop artist. Based in Melbourne but born in the Riverina town of Echuca (Yorta Yorta country), Kate combines a passionate interest in the environment with a vibrant intercultural arts practice drawing on Hindustani, West African and Indian folk compositional idioms.
