With the Living Instruments ‘Pop-up’ exhibition, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM) Interactive Composition students engage with the unique and culturally valuable Grainger Museum instrument collection to create virtual instruments and new creative works.

In this sampling and digital instrument building project, tuned percussion instruments from the Grainger Museum collection are transformed into playable digital instruments for interactive display. In collaboration with the School of Computing and Information Systems, the creative responses using these instruments form part of the highly interactive Grainger Museum exhibition How it plays: Innovations in Percussion.
