Grainger Museum Online is the platform for the Grainger Museum to present curated exhibitions in a digital environment.

Our online exhibitions support and enrich our physical exhibitions, providing access to additional content for visitors to the Museum, as well as giving people unable to come to the Museum itself the opportunity to explore our curated material.

Both past and present exhibitions are live on the platform. The platform is updated when new exhibitions within the Grainger Museum are launched. Currently live on Grainger Museum Online:

  • How it plays: Innovations in percussion, a collaborative exhibition and performance project including the Grainger Museum, Federation Handbells (Museums Victoria/Creative Victoria), Speak Percussion, the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, and Melbourne School of Design.
  • Experiments in Freedom: Grainger's Free Music which features video content of Michael Candy and Ros Hall's Free Music Machine recreations.
  • Synthesizers: Sound of the Future, a collaborative exhibition between Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio and the Grainger Museum.
  • Grainger Photographed: Public Facades and Intimate Spaces, a curated selection of portraits from the Grainger Collection.
