Join the Britannia Morris dancers at the Grainger Museum to celebrate Percy Grainger's 144th birthday.

Morris dancing is performed with hankies and sticks, to live music, accompanied by jangling bells, usually by teams of 6. The dance has a rich history and is frequently performed at festivals and events, celebrating the changing of the seasons. The Britannia Morris dancers dance in the Cotswold style, that originated from the villages of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. The dances are to a number of traditional tunes, including some composed by and arranged by Percy Grainger himself.

Join us for a celebration of folk music and a chance to join in and learn a dance.

Performances will run between 11am and 2pm, with short dance workshops at 11:30am and 1pm.
