About
This exhibition showcases the work of 24 students enrolled in the Master of Art Curatorship program, Faculty of Arts. The discrete but intersecting displays encountered at multiple points throughout the Grainger Museum showcase a range of objects, from costume and decorative arts to paintings and works on paper, archives and musical scores, and musical instruments. Each display has a distinct theme, asking viewers to consider questions related to the perception of women in museum collections, the role of friends and colleagues in the growth of a career, the influence of nature on musical innovation, and the power of clothing to convey culture and creativity.
Students worked in teams to select and curate objects from the Grainger Collection, plan display layouts, create all text content, and physically install the displays, over the 12 weeks of Semester 1, 2026. Through engaging in this whole cycle of curatorial practice, they have built conceptual and practical skills that they can utilise in their future careers.
This project is a collaboration between the Faculty of Arts and Museums & Collections Department
