Become part of the Grainger Museum Volunteers Program
Are you interested in music, art, culture and history? Would you like to be part of a unique cultural institution and have the chance to engage with the University of Melbourne community?
This program is designed to offer a diverse range of people the opportunity to closely engage with the Grainger Museum and the University of Melbourne. Volunteers are a valued part of the Grainger Museum, helping to educate visitors on the Museum and its permanent and temporary exhibitions and enhance its programs and events. Volunteers will be able to work closely with the Grainger Museum and its fascinating collection, including artworks, instruments, textiles, and music manuscripts, to learn new skills and share knowledge.
Please note, recruitment for the 2019 intake into Grainger Museum Volunteer Program has now closed (Sunday 10 March 2019).
How to Become a Volunteer
The process for applying to become a volunteer is as follows:
- Online Application: The application asks for information regarding your interests, skills, reasons for applying to be a volunteer and availability.
- Information Session: Following the review of applications, selected applicants will then be invited to attend an Information Session at the Grainger Museum. This session allows volunteers to find out more about the program and have an informal interview with a member of staff.
- Induction Session: Following the information session, successful applicants will be invited to undertake induction before commencing volunteering at the Grainger Museum.
Please note, all successful applicants are required to undergo a police check and Working with Children check upon acceptance into the program. In addition, applicants must be 18 years old or over to volunteer at the Grainger Museum.
Unfortunately not all applications will be successful due to the limited places available in the program.
